In 2016, Ghostbusters kicked off a trend that’s seen a spate of female-lead remakes of classic Hollywood franchises. But nothing gets a man on the internet all hot under the collar like threatening to remake his favourite movie franchise with women in it. Even in the face of internet uproar, Ocean’s 8 and High Fidelity have gotten the same makeover. On this week’s Pop Culture Boner, we’re looking at all-girl remakes of classic cinematic properties and why angry little nerd babies hate them.
